Eastern High Sierras, California (Sep 16/14) – Ghost towns are alluring as they provide a glimpse into the past, a romantic ideation and flirtation of a time gone by. Bodie, a town of 10,000 in it’s 1880’s heyday of mining gold, gambling and prostitution is left intact like the day it was vacated; the store shelves stocked with provisions from the early 1900’s, the schoolhouse with the day’s assignment on the chalkboard, and clothes hanging in the closets. West of Cody, Wyoming (Oct 22/13) – Having learned along the way that the best maps and source of info is at the State Information Centre, N&J make sure to stop everytime they cross a state line. Eager to learn about the vastness and uniquenes of Wyoming they are told not to miss Thermopolis. A unique town centered around a natural hot spring, being the largest in North America, it is truly stunning. Located within Native Land, a treaty was signed entrusting that the Hot Springs would be free to everyone… and it still is. N&J were thrilled!!! Black Rock City (BRC), NV (aug 26/13) – Regarding the departure from Eugene… Left 5 hours late after the scheduled time (5pm). The 5 ton truck tasked to drive had been packed & repacked and was ready to leave. Problem was our fellow BM travelers had not completed loading the kitchen trailer (giant ice maker, convection oven, etc); and ‘Bucket’ (who’s truck would be towing that trailer) did not arrive until very late. Finally had enough hanging around, and pushed off to rendezvous with the others at the schedule stop.
